Marble Water Lab
A browser simulation where children adjust temperature and explore how water moves from ice to liquid to steam—with an optional particle-level view.
- Ages Primary / elementary, approximately 8–12 (editorial estimate)
- Interactive science simulation

What kids actually do
Children explore one glass of water and drag a temperature slider to see how heating and cooling change what they observe on screen.
They can switch between a glass view and an atoms view to connect everyday water with a particle-level model (features described on the public site; we verified the live interface loads but did not exhaustively test every control).
Preset buttons (such as freezer, ice, room temperature, boiling, and steam) offer quick jumps to familiar scenarios; some presets appeared locked behind progression on the page we opened.
What kids can learn
These are learning areas the project is designed to support—not guaranteed outcomes.
- States of matter and how water changes with heat
- Relationships between temperature and physical change
- Scientific curiosity through interactive visualization
- Experimentation by changing one variable and observing results
Why it's interesting
Marble Water Lab turns an abstract science topic into something kids can manipulate directly. Instead of only reading about states of matter, they change temperature and watch representations update in real time.
What parents should know
This is a standalone web experience separate from Marble's broader iPad application—do not assume iPad app policies or features apply here. Visualizations are educational models, not exact physical measurements. We verified the public website and observed core controls; we have not independently completed any quiz or locked content. Preview alongside your child if you want to discuss what the models simplify or omit.
